Cromulent

The backstory

A Stanford-trained marketing scientist spent a decade studying what makes messages persuasive. Then he built the technology to apply it at scale.

Justin earned his PhD in Quantitative Marketing from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and was an Assistant Professor at the University of Michigan Ross School of Business. His research on digital platforms, causal inference, and machine learning has been published in leading marketing journals, including Marketing Science and Nature Human Behaviour, and his work has been covered by NBC, NPR, the Associated Press, and the Washington Post.

He built Cromulent to close the gap between persuasion science and marketing practice. The platform generates copy tailored to each audience segment, learns what converts from every send, and gets smarter over time.

“Every audience has a language. I spent my career developing the methods to discover it. Cromulent makes those methods available to every marketer.”

What we believe

We believe that every audience has a language, a set of frames, proof points, and emotional resonances that move them to action. The right message for one segment is the wrong message for another. Most marketing tools ignore this. Cromulent is built around it.

We believe that optimization should be scientific, not arbitrary. Real A/B testing explores two options. Cromulent explores thousands of dimensions simultaneously, using the same Bayesian methods that power drug trials and tech industry experimentation.

We believe that AI should augment human judgment, not replace it. Cromulent doesn't take over your marketing. It gives you superpowers: the ability to speak to every customer segment in the language that resonates most.
